Caught on Cam: Suspected thief pulls gun on security at Northeast Philly Walmart

Security workers at a Northeast Philadelphia Walmart got a real scare on Halloween last month when, police claim, a man suspected of theft produced a firearm and threatened to shoot them unless he was allowed to leave.

Police in Philadelphia shared surveillance images in the hopes of identifying the suspected gunman on social media on Thursday.

According to police, the incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2025, at a Walmart store located along the 9700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard after a man was stopped for retail theft by store security workers.

At that time, police said, the man was escorted to the store’s asset protection office where he allegedly became uncooperative with a Pa. State Constable and an asset protection officer.

The man then produced a handgun before, police said, he told the others in the room with him to “Let me go or I’ll shoot you.”

The man then fled the office, exited the store and entered a black station wagon in the parking lot, police say.

Law enforcement officials are asking help from the public to identify this man. Anyone who sees this suspect is asked to contact 9-1-1.

Anyone who may have information on the individual seen on the surveillance images is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153/3154 or contact the department’s Tip Line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
