WMMR to present ‘Pierre Robert: A Show of Life' at The Filmore

Legendary Philadelphia radio personality, long a staple of WMMR-FM’s daily broadcasts, passed away in October.

But, it will be a long time before he — or his impact on the City of Philadelphia — will be forgotten.

And, on Wednesday, WMMR announced a new concert will be held next month that is intended to “honor and celebrate the memory of the legendary radio personality, Pierre Robert.”

Called “Pierre Robert: A Show of Life,” the concert will feature performances from Brent & Zach of Shinedown; Lzzy & Joe of Halestorm; Ed Roland of Collective Soul; The Hooters and David Uosikkinen’s In the Pocket featuring The A’s, Beru Revue and Tommy Conwell.

It will be held at 10 p.m. at The Filmore in Philadelphia.

“Pierre loved live music and enjoyed being among the good citizens of Philadelphia,” said Chuck Damico, the program director at WMMR in a statement on the upcoming event. “‘The Pierre Robert: A Show of Life’ is a special event for all of us who cherished him, providing a fantastic night of live music and memories while honoring Pierre’s amazing life, and helping reduce food shortages in Philadelphia. We are incredibly grateful for the support from all of the artists and performers whom he called his friends, our friends at Live Nation and Cornerstone Management, and especially Pierre’s immediate family. We will sing, dance, and celebrate in the way Pierre would have wanted us to. Please join us if you can, and God bless Pierre Robert.”

Robert passed away on Oct. 29, 2025, at the age of 70. He had worked at WMMR for more than four decades.

As detailed by organizers, Robert joined WMMR back in 1981 after working at KSAN in San Francisco.

“He became a fixture of Philadelphia radio for 44 years. Listeners knew him for his welcoming ‘Greetings, citizens’ salutation and for a warm, steady presence that bridged generations of rock fans,” organizers said in a statement. “On air, Robert blended deep love of classic rock with curiosity about new music. Longtime segments included ‘Coffee Break Music Marathon,’ ‘Work Force Blocks,’ and ‘Pierre’s Vinyl Cut.’ He was known for his annual Thanksgiving show, when he’d play Arlo Guthrie’s ‘Alice’s Restaurant’ multiple times.”

He was also know for community work that, organizers noted, extended beyond the studio. He supported local charity events, AIDS Walk Philly — which shuttered last year — and MANNA’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser.

He was inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame in 2019, which, organizers said was “a nod to his lasting impact on the region’s music culture.”

Tickets for the upcoming concert will go on sale on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. at TheFillmorePhilly.com.

Also, organizers said that a portion of the proceeds from the upcoming show will support MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance).

MANNA, organizers said, uses nutrition to improve health for people with serious illnesses.

To learn more about MANNA, their mission, or to make a donation in honor of Pierre, visit them at mannapa.org.

Also, organizers said that the concert lineup is subject to change.
