Will Aaron Rodgers play vs. Bears this week? Report sheds light on injury

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left Sunday’s game against Cincinnati with an injury, but will it put his status for this week’s game against the Chicago Bears in jeopardy?

According to multiple reports, including from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers suffered a small bone break in his left wrist during the Sunday win over the Bengals.

That injury caused the Steelers to turn to quarterback Mason Rudolph in the second half of the game, but will it lead to Rodgers missing a showdown against a Bears team that he has thoroughly dominated throughout this career?

According to Rapoport, Rodgers has told people he expects to be back “very soon,” and the NFL insider described the quarterback as having a “50-50” shot to play against the Bears.

Rodgers came into Sunday’s game having completed 66.8% of his passes for 1,853 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had struggled in his last two games, throwing for 364 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He has been sacked at least three times in each of his last three games prior to Sunday.

Rodgers has had an incredible career against the Bears, going 24-5 while throwing for 64 touchdowns and 10 interceptions against Chicago, all while he was with the Packers.

He has thrown for nearly 7,000 yards against Chicago, with a passer rating of 109.0 in those games against Chicago.

The Steelers will hit the practice field Wednesday, and that will be the first day they will be required to provide an injury update on their starting quarterback. If Rodgers can’t go, then Rudolph would likely get the start, with rookie Will Howard serving as the back-up.

Kickoff between the Bears and Steelers is set for noon at Soldier Field Sunday, with the game airing on CBS.
