Websites not working after major Cloudflare outage hits parts of the internet

An outage at Cloudflare, one of the largest internet service providers, was disrupting a variety of popular websites Tuesday morning, leading to some social media sites and other webpages showing errors.

One of those websites was the social media platform X, which showed an “Internal Service Error” message.

A similar message shown on the Downdetector website.

In a post on its website, Cloudflare said its Global Network had been experiencing issues starting early Tuesday morning.

“Cloudflare is experiencing an internal service degradation,” the site said, as part of a series of status updates. “Some services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service. We will update as we are able to remediate. More updates to follow shortly.”

The site added that some services recovered, but that customers may continue to see “higher-than-normal error rates” as it continued to investigate.

“We are continuing to work towards restoring other services,” it said.

The outage comes about a month after a major outage at Amazon Web Services, which led to errors and issues for thousands of websites.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
