Jersey Shore firefighter being called a hero after saving passenger on flight

A firefighter from the Jersey Shore is being hailed as a hero for his quick thinking to save a person who was suffering from a medical emergency while on an airplane.

According to the city of Wildwood, Nicolas “Nick” Palmer was returning from Florida when he was on a flight where a fellow passenger was in distress.

Witnesses described the moments that Palmer jumped into action when flight attendants asked for help, officials said.

“Even off duty, his instinct was to act. His training, confidence, and professionalism helped stabilize a life-threatening situation thousands of feet in the air. We could not be prouder,” Commissioner of Public Safety Steve Mikulski said.

Palmer is credited with keeping the person stable until the flight was able to safely land.
