Things to do in and around Chicago this weekend: Nov. 14th -16th

Chicago’s weather will be unseasonably warm for at least part of the weekend, giving residents a chance to enjoy outdoor activities under bright sunshine.

Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum

WHAT: The 13th annual Illumination: Tree Lights features four colorful animal sculptures from The Morton Arboretum’s newest exhibition Vivid Creatures.  See these colorful sculptures lit up for the holidays as part of this annual experience.

Chicago Botanic Garden: Lightscape

WHAT:  Step into Lightscape, an enchanting 1.3-mile trail of twinkling lights and showstopping displays expertly curated anew each year at the Chicago Botanic Garden.

WHEN: Nov. 14th – Jan. 4th

On Stage: ‘Cavalleria Rusticana & Pagliacci’

WHAT: The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents, ‘Cavalleria Rusticana & Pagliacci’, two passionate one-act operas that explore the depths of spurned lovers grief.

On Stage: ‘Swan Lake’

WHAT: Classical Arts Entertainment presents Swan Lake, a story that follows  a courageous young prince as he works to free a beautiful swan maiden from an evil spell.

WHAT: Once featured on America’s Got Talent,  now you can see Mutts Gone Nuts in person, featuring mostly rescue dogs that dance, prance and skip their way into your heart.

HYROX CHICAGO

Comedy: Sal Vulcano

WHO: Sal Vulcano, best known for creating and starring in truTV’s long-running hidden-camera prank show Impractical Jokers, brings his ‘Everything’s Fine Tour’ to Chicago.

Comedy: Jiaoying Summers

WHO:   Jiaoying Summers is a Chinese-American stand-up comedian and actress, best known for her TikTok videos focused on AAPI representation and female empowerment.

Comedy: Whatever Happened to Steve Cochran: Men of a Certain Rage

WHO: Chicago radio broadcasting legend Steve Cochran, along with his radio buddies Mike Toomey and Tim Benker bring their comedy to the stage.

National Cuatro Festival

WHAT: The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance presents the 27th Annual National Cuatro Festival, featuring salsa star Michael Stuart, cuatrista Fabiola “Fabi” Muñoz, and the Latin Music Project

On Stage: Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater

WHAT: The world-renowned Chicago-based Spanish dance company, Ensemble Español celebrates five decades of impact, bringing the vibrant art of Spain to life.

Frankie Knuckles Festival

WHAT: Rebuild and the Frankie Knuckles Foundation hosts the 4th Annual Frankie Knuckles Festival & Fundraiser. This year’s daylong celebration pays tribute to the transgenerational and spatial resonance of House Music in the 70s.
