Fire department rescues dog who chased rabbit into culvert

DENVER (KDVR) — The South Adams County Fire Department rescued a dog who got stuck after chasing a rabbit into an 18 inch culvert Thursday evening.

SACFD said its technical rescue team assembled to peform a confined space entry to retrieve the dog, named Pebbles, after a citizen assist call received shortly after 8:30 p.m. was upgraded to a technical rescue.

The department said it used “specialized equipment and techniques” to perform the rescue, with a rescuer crawling into the culvert approximately 100 feet to retrieve the dog.

“We extend our gratitude to our dedicated firefighting crews and technical rescue team for their swift efforts, which resulted in successfully reuniting Pebbles with her relieved owners,” the fire department said.

The exact location of the successful rescue was not disclosed.
