Car plunges off cliff in Angeles National Forest, killing 1

One person, believed to be the driver, died when a car careened off a cliff in the Angeles National Forest Thursday morning.

The crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. after a county worker saw the car leaning over a cliff in the area of Chantry Flats Road near the Santa Anita Dam, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said.

One person was found dead at the scene. Search and rescue teams were checking the hillside for any other possible victims, the spokesperson told KTLA 5 News.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
