Tuesday is Election Day for Twin Cities mayoral and city council races as well as for seats across the state, but many Minneapolis voters have already gotten a head start. Bring Me The News reports “on Monday, the City of Minneapolis confirmed that 23,000 residents have cast ballots since early voting began on Sept. 19 – the second highest early voting turnout in a municipal election, according to the city.”

The Anoka-Hennepin School Board race is among those taking place Tuesday, but where is money for the race coming from? WCCO TV writes “a teachers union president said unprecedented amounts of money are being pumped into the [race,] with much of it tied to conservative political groups. … WCCO combed through campaign financial reports from this year and found more than $237,000 were spent in this election this year, with $220,000 of that for conservative-backed candidates.”

MPR News has compiled tips for navigating the current job market. “Last week, Target cut more than 800 workers and Amazon announced it was laying off 14,000 employees. The folks caught up in this corporate restructuring will now have to figure out their next career move as they navigate job loss in an economy that’s all but frozen.”

A school lesson in southern Minnesota turned into a drive for thousands of diapers. KTTC reports “first graders at Byron Public Schools collected 12,000 diapers this fall to support the Jeremiah Program, which helps single mothers and their families disrupt generational poverty. … Teachers organized the diaper drive as a lesson in citizenship for students. The initial goal was to see which classroom could collect the most diapers.”
