Bartenders will sing to you at new Denver venue, cafe and bar

DENVER (KDVR) — A cozy cafe, cocktail bar, restaurant and performing arts venue all in one is opening soon in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver.

Ballyhoo Table and Stage will be a place where people can go to sip on some coffee and get breakfast, work on projects, connect with others, grab a drink and get serenaded by a bartender, and stay for dinner and a show.

A performing arts venue with a large theater in the back and a small stage in the front café for their singing bartenders, a cozy coffee shop serving Queen City Coffee, delicious food and a cocktail bar where everyone is invited to come exactly as they are.

The new venue will have a large theatre in the back as well as a small stage toward the front cafe for singing bartenders. According to a press release, Ballyhoo will host various live entertainment like known Broadway plays and musicals, comedy, live music, cabaret, improv, drag and more.

The new venue at 3300 Tejon St. will open on Nov. 1 with a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and friendly for all ages in the community.

Local drag darling Jessica L’Whor will kick off the celebration with a ribbon cutting and the rest of the event will bring music from DJ Buddy Bravo, circus performers, face painters and interactive family-friendly entertainment.

“Ballyhoo is a love letter to humanity,” founder and owner Julia Tobey said. “We’re
creating a joyful haven where everyone feels seen, heard, and inspired. In the midst of a
loneliness epidemic — and so many forces trying to divide us — we believe that joy itself is
a radical act of resistance.”

Award-winning actors Clark Destin Jones and Emma Maxfield will be at the event as well, in character as Hedwig and Yitzhak, the roles they will play for the remount of Broadway rock musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” which opens Nov. 6.

Ballyhoo will serve Queen City Collective Coffee, and the menu features breakfast and brunch dishes like burritos, pastries and sandwiches, and lunch and late-night options like paninis, soup and charcuterie boards.
