A man was shot and rushed to the hospital in critical condition in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood on Monday, authorities said.
Miami police said they were investigating a call about a man shot in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 61st Street.
Miami Fire Rescue confirmed that one person was found suffering from “several gunshot wounds.” He were transported to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
His identity has not been released.
Video of the scene shows what appears to be a large pool of blood in the roadway, as police cars are parked nearby.
A witness also shared video with NBC6, which shows first responders working on the man who was shot as he lay on the pavement.
Several people who live in the area said they heard gunshots and saw police setting up a perimeter along Northwest 15th Avenue and 61st Street.
Detectives were focused on a black Cadillac Escalade that had its driver side door open.
Police later said that a possible subject had been “detained for further investigation.”
A motive for the shooting remains unknown as the investigation continues.
