KANE COUNTY, Ill. — A Kane County man will spend more than 10 years in prison for possessing and sharing child pornography.
Victor Perez, a 25-year-old South Elgin resident, agreed to a 15-year sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to a felony child pornography charge, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced Thursday.
According to Mosser, the charge against Perez was handed down in May of 2024 after authorities executed a search warrant at his home and uncovered a phone that contained a large amount of child sexual abuse material in his possession.

Additional investigation later revealed that Perez had also shared the material with another person using the messaging app Snapchat.
“Every time the offense of child pornography is committed, a child is harmed. My thanks to the investigators of the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, who continue to ensure that these offenders are exposed and held accountable for their crimes. Additional thanks to Assistant State’s Attorney Hillary Sadler for her work on this case, which included ensuring this defendant remained in custody during the pendency of the case,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said.
Perez, who has already been in custody for more than a year, will receive credit for 609 days served in the Kane County jail.
