The group that has teens up and running across city
Saamir Brown is a junior at Vaux High School and part of Students Run Philly Style, a local group that works with nearly 2,000 students and mentors each year to share the joys and rewards of running. Brown in preparing to run a marathon.
“This is a 16-year-old who is waking up Saturday morning and is going to be at the front steps of the school at 7 in the morning to run 19 miles,” Brown’s mentor, Quinn Litsinger, said. “I don’t know what you were doing when you were 16, but I was not getting up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday to do that.” Learn more about Saamir and the program.
