Patrolling officers come across a lot of oddly behaving drivers, but this is the first for Upland police.
An officer pulled over a man last week after he saw the driver getting out of his car in the middle of traffic, grabbing a traffic cone and throwing it in front of his car so he could drive over it, the Upland Police Department said in a social media post.
“(The driver) grabbed his steering wheel with both hands and drove over it while jerking his body like he was in a monster truck,” the police department said in the social media post.
When the officer pulled them over and asked what was going on, the driver said, “They wouldn’t let me get past here, man.”
Can’t make this stuff up… Last week, a Motor Officer patrolling Foothill Boulevard saw a driver stop his car in traffic, get out, grab a traffic cone and throw it in front of his own car. The driver then jumped back in, grabbed his steering wheel with both hands, and drove over… pic.twitter.com/vFUNnCzn1r

The driver was also asked to take a sobriety task as he had to walk straight on a line with officers observing his behavior.
Not only did he fail to walk straight and steady, he tried to show off elaborate footwork, spinning around on one foot.
Video from Upland police showed the driver appeared to have prescription bottles on the passenger seat.
Even after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and put in the backseat of the police car, the man was seen singing, repeating gibberish to himself.
