MoDOT gears up for winter with snowplow drills in St. Louis

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – As the winter season approaches, the Missouri Department of Transportation is preparing to fight winter storms and clear roads.

MoDOT plans to hold its annual winter operation drills on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 15 and 16. On those days, snow vehicles will travel state highways and routes throughout the St. Louis area starting at 9 a.m.

In the event of a winter storm, MoDOT plans to have every available snowplow operator work 12-hour shifts covering 24 hours until major roads are mostly clear. When winter storms are forecasted, MoDOT will also communicate advance information for travelers.
