Alfred State building to remain temporarily closed after likely carbon monoxide exposure

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A culinary arts building at Alfred State College will remain closed for now after at least four people were “likely” exposed to carbon monoxide on Wednesday, the school said.

Building occupants on the Wellsville campus reported feeling lightheaded Wednesday afternoon, leading to an evacuation. Four people were transported from the culinary arts building to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

In a statement, the school said the building likely experienced a “localized exposure to carbon monoxide buildup.”

The issue has been fixed, but the building will remain closed until clearance procedures can be completed, according to Alfred State.
