Evacuation warning issued for brush fire burning in rural North County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An evacuation warning has been issued for a brush fire that broke out Tuesday in a remote area of De Luz, authorities said.

The blaze, dubbed the “Sandia Fire,” occurred around 3:19 p.m. in the vicinity of the 40000 block of Sandia Creek Drive, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

As of 5 p.m., the fire has burned 50 acres with the potential of hitting up to 250 acres, per fire officials. Some structures are threatened at this time.

The County of San Diego issued an evacuation warning, which means that all in the impacted area should prepare to evacuate.

The location of the evacuation warning zone is north of Conquistador Road, Harris Trail, south of Doville Ranch Road, east of De Luz Heights Road and west of Sandia Creek Drive, West Sandia Creek Terrace, per genasys Protect.

Cal Fire has a full air and ground team responding to the fire.
