CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Caltrans and SANDAG have begun a series of nighttime closures along the I-805 South at Telegraph Canyon Road and between East Naples Street and Bonita Road in Chula Vista, according to the agencies.
The closures, which are taking place due to bridge construction as part of the I-805 South Bridge Safety and Sound Walls project, began Sunday, Oct. 5, and are slated to continue until Friday, Oct. 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The SR-54 to the I-805 South Connector will also be closed during the construction.

People traveling on SR-54 West can continue to Highland Avenue and enter back on SR-54 East and take I-805 connectors.
Telegraph Canyon Road will close the eastbound and westbound lanes on Oct. 7-8 under the freeway overpass near L Street and Oleander Avenue in Chula Vista. Both the northbound and southbound on-ramps at Telegraph Canyon Road will be closed.

The westbound and eastbound lanes under the East Naples Street overpass will also be closed on Oct. 7-8.

Detour signage will be in place to help guide travelers through the work areas and detours. Drivers are encouraged to be prepared and expect delays in the area during construction hours. You can check here for a real-time update of traffic in the area.
Nearby residents can also expect nighttime construction lights, dust and noise from equipment.
The construction is part of a $33 million project to improve the transportation infrastructure around South County, according to Caltrans and SANDAG.
