CBD could help with Alzheimer’s Inflammation

New research shows cannabidiol may aid those with Alzheimer’s.

The Society for neuroscience reports on a study showing the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD. It could decrease neuro inflammation offering a potential therapy for Alzheimer’s patients.

Neuro inflammation damages neurons leading to diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Doctors say at a molecular and genetic level, CBD reduces key triggers for inflammation.

Scientist suggest a focus on tamping down neuro inflammation could help clear some of the plaques and tangles which are a hallmark in the mind robbing disease.

Reducing peanut allergies

Pediatricians have a plan to reduce peanut allergies and putting it into practice is helping kids.

Both educating and urging parents to introduce peanut containing foods early, helps children prevent the development of a peanut hypersensitivity.

Lurie Children’s and Northwestern physicians embarked on the push to counsel families on early peanut introduction, at about 6 months old.

About 8 percent of U.S. children have food allergies, 2 percent are allergic to peanuts. But the prevalence is increasing over time.

The study of more than 18,000 infants was funded by the national institute of allergy and infectious diseases.

Study: Only 14% of children get enough sleep

Kids are not sleeping as well as their parents think.

Researchers at Brown university put trackers on children to determine actual sleep time.

While 83 percent of parents said their kids were likely getting the recommended hours of sleep, study authors found only 14-percent met national sleep guidelines.

Students ages 6-12 need 12 hours of sleep per night.

 Parents didn’t take into account the amount of time it took a child to fall asleep or how often they wake at night.

 Daily sleep diaries were way off of the calculations from wrist worn trackers which measured bedtime, time to fall asleep and awake time versus sleep time.

Most children in the study only got a little more than eight hours sleep.
