Woman's body discovered in vacant lot: SLMPD

ST. LOUIS – District 6 detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) say they are investigating the death of an unidentified woman after her body was discovered Friday morning in the North Riverfront neighborhood.

According to SLMPD, officers were called to the 7600 block of Hall Street after a utility worker discovered a body in a vacant lot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say they located the woman, who was not conscious or breathing. EMS, who was also alerted to the discovery, pronounced the woman deceased at the scene, according to SLMPD.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death have yet to be determined, as SLMPD says “the cause of death was not immediately clear.”

The city of St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office–which has possession of the body–plans to conduct an autopsy soon, as they are working to identify the remains.

Next of kin has not been notified, but the investigation into the woman’s death remains active, SLMPD says. District 6 detectives can be reached at 314-444-0001.
