The Chicago Cubs are facing a do-or-die Game 3 in their Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres, but timing for the showdown will be different from Games 1 and 2.
After an encouraging win in Game 1, Chicago is now looking to bounce back after losing Game 2 by a score of 3-0 Wednesday.
This will mark the fourth time in Cubs history that they’ve played a game at Wrigley Field in which both teams were at risk of elimination.
Here is what we know about the game so far.
What time do the Cubs play?
The start time for Game 3 will be later than the first two.
With the New York Yankees extending their series against the Boston Red Sox and the Dodgers finishing their series against the Red, the start time for Chicago’s Game 3 became 4:08 p.m. CT.
What channel is the game on?
Game 3 will air on ESPN, according to Major League Baseball.
Who are the starting pitchers?
Yu Darvish gets the ball for San Diego on Thursday, and Jameson Taillon starts for Chicago.
Darvish played for the Cubs for three seasons before he was traded to the Padres in December 2020. The right-hander said he enjoys pitching at Wrigley.
“Yeah, this place did me good,” he said through a translator. “The organization, the fans did me good, too.”
