ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Clifton Park man accused of being responsible for fatally hitting a pedestrian with his car on Wolf Road in Colonie and fleeing in March pleaded guilty to this incident in Albany County court. Heath Mabeus, 37, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving death without reporting.
At about 6:30 a.m. on March 14, Colonie Police responded to a reported crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Wolf Road near Beltrone Drive. Witnesses reported that the involved car struck Migdalia Aulet, 58, of Schenectady, as she was crossing Wolf Road and fled the scene, police said. Aulet was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
Colonie Police were able to identify and locate Mabeus and his vehicle at his Clifton Park home before arresting him. Mabeus will be sentenced to anywhere from two years and four months to seven years in state prison on December 5.
