Buffalo man found guilty of fatal Northland Avenue shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was found guilty by a jury on Thursday of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after he fatally shot a man on Northland Avenue last September, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

At 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, 49-year-old Alfonzo Quinney intentionally shot 28-year-old Elijah Mingo with an illegal gun during an argument at a party on the 100 block of Northland Avenue.

Mingo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jurors made their decision after four hours of deliberation after a four-day trial and convicted Quinney on all counts.

Quinney faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 17 He remains held without bail.
