GARY, Ind. — FedEx broke ground in Gary, Indiana, Thursday.
A new $60 million logistic center will be located next to the Gary/Chicago International Airport and near Buffington Harbor.
The 317,000-square-foot facility is expected to create nearly 600 new jobs.
Gary’s mayor says this will be part of a larger economic turnaround taking advantage of the infrastructure already in place in the city.
There are also plans for a new Gary convention center now in the works.
