Video of Schenectady man brandishing gun in Albany tavern released

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Surveillance video from a tavern in Albany has been released from the night a Schenectady man brandished a gun at patrons. Officials with Albany County shared the video from Washington Tavern of the incident with NEWS10 after Hector Gomez, 41, pleaded guilty to gun charges on September 24.

Gomez is facing a possible sentence of eight to 12 years in prison for brandishing a gun during a verbal fight at the Western Avenue tavern at 2:45 a.m. on February 8. Gomez admitted in his guilty plea that the argument turned physical, and he pulled out a 9mm handgun on customers.

Charges

  • Second-degree kidnapping
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Second-degree burglary, First-degree unlawful imprisonment
  • First-degree criminal trespassing
  • Second-degree menacing

The Albany County District Attorney’s Office indicted Gomez in March on charges listed above. Gomez is expected to be sentenced at the beginning of January.
