Two high schools in San Bernardino County were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning, one day after an active shooter threat closed a third high school campus in the city.
The Rialto Unified School District announced Tuesday’s first lockdown at Carter High School on 2630 N. Linden Ave. in Rialto shortly before 11:15 a.m.
“Carter High School is on a lockdown. The Rialto Police Department is working with the Rialto Unified School District. Principal Kristy Streff has notified families. We will provide an update when PD releases more information. Thank you for your support,” the post from the School District read.
About 20 minutes later, another post from the School District stated that Eisenhower High School on 1321 N. Lilac Ave. was on a precautionary lockdown.
“Eisenhower High School is on a precautionary lockdown. The Rialto Police Department is working with the Rialto Unified School District,” the post read. The precautionary lockdown at Eisenhower High School was lifted after roughly 30 minutes.
It was unclear what prompted the lockdowns. It was also unknown if the lockdowns were connected in any way to a third lockdown in the city that occurred a day earlier.
On Monday, students at Rialto High School on 595 S. Eucalyptus Ave. were locked down due to a reported threat of an active shooter. Rialto police later confirmed there were no active shooters and no shots were fired.
