Video shows an early morning shootout over the weekend in a suburban Philadelphia neighborhood.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 27, around 1:40 a.m. along the 7500 block of New Second Street in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania. Video shows two cars – both sedans – traveling south on New Second Street. You can also hear the sounds of gunfire.
“We heard frantic gunshots between 10 and 20 shots,” a witness, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10. “We didn’t know what was going on.”
Police said three guns were used in the shooting and more than a dozen shots were fired.
“When officers arrived, they found at least one dozen fired cartridge casings in the street from at least three different firearms,” Cheltenham Police Lieutenant Andrew Snyder said.
Police said at one point, one of the cars involved in the shootout made a U-turn and headed north towards Abington Township. Police are unsure where the dispute initially began. They also said they never received reports of any shooting victims showing up at local hospitals.
As they continue to investigate, they’re asking the public to share any information they have about the incident.
“That’s what we’re hoping at this point. Somebody who has any information whether they worked at a body shop or replacing auto glass, something like that,” Lt. Snyder said. “Heard through the grapevine, a friend of theirs, vehicle got shot up, anything like that, let us know.”
If you have any information on the shooting, please call Cheltenham Township Police.
