The Sky’s Rachel Banham is joining Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 league announced on Monday. She joins a batch of new additions to the league including Ezi Magbegor, Erica Wheeler, and Veronica Burton — players who did not play in the inaugural season but have been invited to Season 2.
Unrivaled added two new teams after its first season, expanding the player pool to 48.
A 10-year veteran, Banham took on a larger role with the Sky this past WNBA season, scoring a career-high nine points per game. She’s spent most of her career as a sharpshooter off the bench.
At Unrivaled, Banham will likely be joining Sky teammates Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith. Neither have been officially announced, but Reese played in the inaugural season, and Van Lith said in her exit interviews she’d be playing.
Unrivaled will be a change of pace for Banham. She has spent recent offseasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of Minnesota, and plans to become a coach after her professional career is over.
Unrivaled Season 2 begins on Jan. 5 in Miami.
