This is Brian Arola, MinnPost’s Greater Minnesota reporter. As someone who grew up in northern Minnesota and lives in southern Minnesota, I strive for my coverage to be as reflective of our state as possible.
To that end, I’ve featured sources from 40 different counties in my coverage since starting in this role in May. From small-town mayors to community activists to farmers, they shared perspectives on the most pressing issues facing their communities.
My goal is to eventually reach sources in all 87 counties. Phone interviews help with this outreach, but one of my favorite parts of the job is traveling the state to talk to people. Whether it was Worthington near the Iowa border or Warroad near Canada, hitting the road has helped me bring you stories from all over the state.
