NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Naperville police say suspect human remains were found inside a car that was found submerged in a body of water behind the Naperville Police Department this week.

According to Naperville police, the car is related to a Berwyn missing person’s case from 2003.

On Thursday, divers conducting a training exercise discovered the car in a body of water known as Lake Osborne located behind the police department and Naperville Fire Station No. 7.

The vehicle was removed from the lake and identified as a 1992 Nissan Maxima, according to a statement from police.

Detectives were able to determine the car is connected to an open investigation into the disappearance of Hiep Luu, who was reported missing in 2003.

Police said suspected human remains were located inside the car but have yet to be identified.

The Berwyn Police Department, which continues to handle Luu’s missing person’s case, is now working with the Naperville Police Department.

Anyone with information should contact the Berwyn Police Investigations Division at (708) 795-2160 or the Naperville Police Investigations Division at (630) 420-4138.
