Police searching for suspect after robbery in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Police are searching for a suspect after a robbery that left a woman injured in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the robbery occurred on Sept. 11 around 10:30 a.m. on the 3700 block of Chippewa Street in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood.

Officers arrived to the scene shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 after receiving a call for a cutting. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found a 29-year-old woman who had sustained a laceration to her neck and a cut to her hand, SLMPD said.

According to SLMPD, the victim told officers that she had been sitting inside her vehicle on Chippewa Street when an unknown woman opened her door and told her not to move while threatening her with a knife. Police say the woman attempted to grab the knife away from the suspect but was stabbed in the neck while doing so.

The victim ran from the scene after being injured, according to police. The suspect took the victim’s purse, which contained money.

The 29-year-old woman received treatment from EMS before being transported to a nearby hospital. The woman was listed in serious but stable condition after the stabbing.

Police needs help to identify the woman involved in the crime.

According to SLMPD, the suspect was wearing an all black outfit with a blue surgical mask at the time of the crash. In a photo released by SLMPD, the image mistakenly displays the suspect to be wearing an all purple outfit due to an technical issue from the surveillance video the photo was retrieved from.
