Here's a list of haunted places in SF, according to a paranormal investigator

(KRON) — On a recent episode of 15 with Justine, Paranormal Investigator, Ying Liu, shares details of haunted encounters she’s experienced across San Francisco locations (no, Alcatraz is not on the list).

Liu and her team at The Haunted Bay offer ghost tours to people in San Francisco and Berkeley. She describes the encounters as “not a conscious thing” but instead, “a recording in the atmosphere.”

Although Liu does not promise run-ins with ghosts to people on her tours, she claims the locations listed below are where she and other crew members have had at least one haunted experience.

1. Alley near Transamerica Pyramid

Claimed to be the oldest alley in San Francisco, Hotaling Place holds centuries of history. The Alley stretches one block between Washington and Jackson streets in the Financial District. Liu says this is where she unexpectedly encountered a ghost while she was walking through there with a friend. Liu described the ghost as a male figure that approached her before walking away. She says, at first, she thought it was just a rude man who nearly bumped into them, but as quickly as the figure appeared, it faintly disappeared into the night.

    2. Grand Star Theater

Formerly known as “Great China Theater,” the century-old establishment sits in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Liu says her team, along with a Psychic Medium, encountered a ghost that resembled a woman crying in the backstage bathroom. Another paranormal investigator claims he saw a floating figure move across the seats that same night.

The music venue and concert hall first opened as the “Lowes Warfield” in 1922. During a paranormal investigation, Liu and her team captured what they believe is physical evidence of a ghost that haunts the venue (see photo). Using a thermal camera, Liu says her crew captured a photo that resembled a man’s face in the backstage area of the venue. She says the thermal camera uses a special sensor to detect heat from a person or object, and the face figure they captured indicates unusual coldness.
