Authorities investigate 2-month-old baby’s death in Lancaster

Authorities are investigating the death of a 2-month-old baby at a home in Lancaster on Sunday.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 44000 block of Beech Avenue around 8:19 a.m. after reports of a child who was not breathing, officials said.

When firefighters and paramedics arrived, they attempted to render aid, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed the child’s death but did not release further details. Investigators remained at the home late Sunday morning as they worked to determine what led up to the baby’s death.

While the case is not being treated as a homicide, the LASD Homicide Bureau was requested to respond, as they routinely investigate infant and unexplained deaths.

No additional details were immediately available.
