2025 Virginia voter registration info

The deadline to register in advance is Friday, Oct. 24. However, same-day voter registration will be available as well.

In advance: You may register to vote or update your existing registration on the Virginia Board of Elections’ website here.

Same day: If you miss the deadline, you may register in person with proof of residency at your polling place on Election Day, but you’ll have to vote using a provisional ballot. If you are already registered in a different locality and need to update your registration, you may be able to cast a non-provisional ballot, rather than the provisional ballot used for same-day registration.

How to check if you’re already registered: If you think you’re already registered but want to make sure, you can do that online here.
