Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker highlighted her administration’s work during her State of Philadelphia address in Center City.
Parker addressed members of the Union League of Philadelphia and gave an update on the State of Philadelphia at a luncheon the afternoon of Wednesday, September 18, 2025.
The mayor spoke about economic growth, public safety and infrastructure initiatives, such as the Clean and Green Program, and more.
“The state of the Parker administration is strong,” said Parker at the start of her speech.
Parker said regarding public safety, “Philadelphia is becoming a safer city.”
“Homicides have declined by 36% last year and they have declined by over 15% again this year,” Parker shared. “As Commissioner Bethel gives me during my briefing, he says Madam Mayor, if these current trends continue, you should know that Philadelphia will see the lowest numbers of homicides and shootings in more than a half a century here in our city.”
In terms of the city’s Clean and Green program, Parker stated, “We’ve cleaned over 100,000 city blocks and commercial quarters and the numbers grow.”
Parker shared that the city has also towed thousands of abandoned vehicles and cleaned thousands of vacant lots.
In addition, Parker shared that her administration will work to bring the twice-a-week trash collection to more neighborhoods.
