DENVER (KDVR) — The Thornton Police Department announced Monday that a 55-year-old man had been arrested on a warrant for the 2003 stabbing death of a 29-year-old woman.

Rosa Arguello, 29, was found dead in a field in the 12000 block of Quebec Street on Oct. 17, 2003. An autopsy showed she had been stabbed multiple times, including through the heart.

Officials said that Arguello was a member of the Hopi Tribe and a mother of three.

On Monday morning, the Dubuque Police Department in Dubuque, Iowa, arrested 55-year-old Robert McClain on a warrant for the 2003 homicide. The Iowa police department said that information had been previously received, saying McClain may be involved in a Colorado homicide.

The information was shared with the Thornton Police Department, according to the Dubuque agency, and the Thornton Police Department investigated with help from the Dubuque police.

The Thornton Police Department said that arrangements are underway to extradite McClain to Colorado to face charges in the case.

“We are grateful for our partners at Dubuque PD and will continue to work closely with the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to pursue justice for Rosa and her family,” said Thornton Police Chief Jim Baird in a release.
