LA MESA (FOX 5/KUSI)– The City of La Mesa has teamed up with Tree San Diego to promote a cleaner and greener community this fall by hosting a series of virtual and in-person events highlighting the benefits of trees throughout the community.
The events from Sept. 27 through Nov. 8 aim to promote the numerous benefits of caring for and planting trees, including improving air quality, promoting public health and saving energy, while also teaching the public how to maintain them.
The series will culminate in a free tree distribution event on Saturday, Oct. 25, during which 100 trees will be given away to La Mesa residents.
To register for the free events, you can sign up at Tree San Diego, and residents who attend the Sept. 27 and Oct. 11 events are entered in a drawing to win a 5-gallon fruit tree.
The tree giveaway event is on a first-come, first-served basis, and La Mesians must submit a request form in advance to be eligible for the giveaway.
