SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)– Thousands of volunteers will help keep America’s Finest City looking pristine for the 41st Annual Coastal Cleanup Day taking place Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event hosted by I Love a Clean San Diego is inviting over 5,000 volunteers from all over the city to take part in helping to not only beautify local beaches, but also help clean litter from inland canyons, as well as rivers and parks.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join, and can sign up for the Coastal Cleanup Day here.
The Kickoff site will technically be at Robb Field, located on Bacon Street in Ocean Beach, but there are also over 100 sites around San Diego County whose locations can also be found on the website.
Robb’s Field was designated as the kickoff destination this year due to its ongoing litter challenges, including illegal dumping and car camping as well as its proximity to the San Diego River.
Several other sites across the county are also considered “High Impact Sites,” and volunteers at these locations will also receive special event shirts.
High Impact Sites:
– Bonsall: Bonsall Pumping Station
– Chula Vista: Broadway Marsh
– Chula Vista: Salt Mine Street Sweep
– El Cerrito: Colina Del Sol Park
– Miramar: Los Peñasquitos Canyon East
– Valencia Park: Encanto Trail
– De Luz – Ross Lake
Founded in 1985, Coastal Cleanup Day has brought together over 269,000 volunteers throughout San Diego County and has removed over five million pounds of litter and debris, according to officials with I Love a Clean San Diego.
