BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man has been charged in connection with nine burglaries that took place this month in Buffalo’s B and D districts, police announced Monday.
Just after 1 a.m., police saw a 52-year-old male, identified as Dale Gabler of Buffalo, running on the 800 block of Amherst Street. Two people told police that Gabler was in their car shortly before authorities apprehended him.
An investigation found that Gabler was allegedly in the complainants’ house and loaded one of their vehicles with their own property, including a television and electronic devices, police said. He was reportedly trying to steal the vehicle, but was then confronted by the homeowners.
Gabler allegedly had two wallets and 14 credit and debits cards that were not in his name when he was apprehended. Police said he matched the description of the burglar in other recent incidents.
He was charged with a dozen felony counts of burglary, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanors.
The burglaries took place from Sept. 5 to 15 on Middlesex and Hallam Roads, Plymouth and Richmond Avenues, Niagara and Amherst Streets, Lincoln Parkway and Fordham Drive.
Gabler was on parole for prior burglaries at the time of his arrest, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing and more charges may be filed.
Police are reminding residents in the B and D Districts to lock their doors and windows, and use outside lights when possible.
Anyone with information or video footage related to the burglaries is asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Department’s tip call line at (716) 847-2255.
