A Chicago establishment has landed on a popular food magazine’s list of best new restaurants.
“The 20 Best New Restaurants of 2025” compiled by Bon Appétit features everything from a Mexican seafood spot in New Orleans to a Thai eatery in Washington, D.C.
This list, which features restaurants that opened between March 2024 and March 2025, “is unranked because each restaurant is worth a visit for its own reason.”
Three Midwest spots received honors, including Feld in Chicago.
According to the publication, at Feld, “a relationship-to-table restaurant” in West Town, Chef Jake Potashnick and crew “focus on dishes that showcase the intimate relationships they’ve built with farmers of the finest asparagus, duck, Asian pear—you name it.”
Early on, Feld became “Chicago’s most divisive restaurant, a flash point for critics of highfalutin many-course tasting menus,” Bon Appétit stated.
Joseph Hernandez, the associate editor of drinks and lifestyle, said “dinner at Feld feels like a night of theater, with 20-plus courses unfurling over two hours, a dynamic dinner-in-the-round that is as engaging as it is earnest.”
Potashnick addressed the honor on the restaurant’s Instagram page, writing, “Recognitions like this are a huge honor, but we are also only as good as our service tonight. We continue to wake up each day ready to work on our craft and challenge ourselves. That’s what Feld is about.”
Also making the list were Vinai, a restaurant specializing in Southeast Asian cuisine in Minneapolis, and Wildweed in Cincinnati, which features everything from hand-formed noodles to “wildcrafted” ingredients and unique vegetables, according to its website.
