2 dead, 4 injured after pawn shop shooting in Oakland

(KRON) — Six people were shot Wednesday night at a pawn shop in Oakland, leaving two dead, according to the Oakland Police Department.

The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. at Eddy Oakland Cash 4 Gold on the 7000 block of International Boulevard.

OPD said two employees pressed a silent alarm after five armed suspects rushed in. Moments later, multiple calls came in reporting shots fired.

Officers arrived within minutes and found six people with gunshot wounds, said Oakland PD.

“According to the preliminary investigation, multiple individuals armed with weapons entered a business in the 7100 block,” said police in a news release. “An exchange of gunfire took place between these individuals and the workers inside the establishment.”

One suspect died at the scene, and another later died at a hospital, confirmed police.

One of the victims was an employee, who is expected to survive. Another employee was not injured. The business owner was also among those hurt.

The Oakland Fire Department said five ambulances responded.

Investigators recovered multiple shell casings and firearms inside the store. No arrests have been made.
