Belleville residents urge action on firefighter after hammer threat

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mo. – Belleville residents are demanding action against a firefighter for allegedly threatening a delivery driver with a hammer.

The incident occurred while Belleville firefighter Kyle Biermann was off-duty, and he reportedly confronted the driver, claiming she was driving recklessly in his neighborhood. The driver alleges that Biermann shouted through her rolled-up window and waved a hammer at her.

According to the Belleville News-Democrat, community members attended a special meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners on Monday to demand accountability for Biermann’s actions.

Biermann said he had the hammer because he was working on his house at the time of the confrontation. Despite the driver’s claims, Biermann has not been charged with any crime.

The Illinois State Police have completed their investigation into the incident and have forwarded the case to the St. Clair County state’s attorney’s office for further review. It is unknown what investigators found while reviewing the incident.
