$213K stolen from elderly man for strip club, luxury items: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Ballwin man is facing felony charges following stealing over $200,000 from an elderly roommate over the course of nearly a year, according to officials.

Records say the victim—a 78-year-old man with limited hearing and sight—moved in with one of his friends following a hospital stay. He depended on Jeffery Lewis, the homeowner’s son, to help him manage paying bills.

A check was made to Lewis for $78,000 to complete home renovations on a separate property the victim owned, but there was no work done.

Additionally, Lewis used the victim’s credit card from June 2024 to this May, stealing over $135,000 in charges that “did not reflect large monetary payments of victim’s bills or any payments for benefits for victim’s health and living expenses.”

According to documents, Lewis dropped several thousands at the Pony Strip Club, several thousands more to a “female dancer,” the Louis Vuitton store, Helzberg diamond jewelry store, and personal travel expenses.

He told the police he didn’t know what happened to the money when confronted.

Lewis is charged with two counts of financial exploitation of an elderly/disabled person, which is a Class A felony. He is currently being held under a $200,000 bond.
