Children's 'courage and teamwork' leads to arrest in Alameda: PD

(KRON) – A child informed authorities of an intruder attempting to enter his home, according to the Alameda Police Department.

Last week, a child was awakened by the sound of an intruder trying to gain access to the residence around 3 a.m. The child calmly hid and contacted authorities. Police said the child could not give an exact address, but another child gave more information to police.

During the call, one of the child’s family members confronted the intruder.

Shortly after, officers responded to the scene and located the suspect, who was hiding in a nearby yard. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

Police said one of the residents was treated by the Alameda Fire Department after stepping on glass.

Alameda PD called the children “brave” and commended them on their “courage and teamwork.” The department said it will honor the duo at an upcoming award ceremony.
