UAlbany launches new programs focused on climate change

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The University at Albany announced the approval of three new environmental-related programs coming to the school. UAlbany’s Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences welcomes a new Environmental Studies major as well as a Master of Science and PhD program in Climate Science.

The university announced on Tuesday that the state’s Department of Education approved the establishment of these three new programs. Students can now enroll for this semester to become better equipped at dealing with the world’s evolving climate and environmental challenges.

“The department’s three new degrees are the culmination of a top-to-bottom analysis of each of our degree programs, and how they address the interests of our students and their preparation for the workforce,” said Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences department chairs Kristen Corbosiero and Ryan Torn. “The new programs allow students to study the interdisciplinary aspects of the environment and carry out world class research in climate science, training them to address some of the most challenging issues facing our planet.”
