6 sought in international theft ring that stole watches and jewelry

Six people are sought in an investigation into an organized crime group suspected in thefts at jewelry and retail businesses, the LAPD said Thursday.

The month-long investigation led to the arrests of two people and the identification of six others sought in connection with the crimes, which included a theft Dec. 16 in Los Angeles. Several members of a transnational organized crime group were identified as a result of the investigation into the theft, the LAPD said.

The group suspected in thefts in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada has likely been active since at least 2016, police said.

Stolen watches, jewelry and clothing were recovered during the service of search warrant in the December crime, the LAPD said. Authorities also found fraudulent forms of ID, passports and other documents.

it was not immediately clear whether the suspects were arrested.

Police asked for help to identify other possible crimes linked to the group. In news release Thursday, the LAPD provided photos of six people sought in connection with the crimes.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division, Wilshire Division detectives and the police departments of Glendale, Arcadia, Pasadena, along with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Jewelers Security Alliance were part of the investigation that resulted in the arrests.
