2025 US Para Sailing Championship held in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The 2025 U.S. Para Sailing Championship, hosted by the Coronado Yacht Club, was held in San Diego over the weekend.

Twenty-six sailors from four nations (United States, Canada, Chile and Mexico) took part in 11 races on the San Diego Bay during the three days.

The following are winners in the Hansa 303 class and Martin 16 fleet:

Hansa 303 class

  • Gold (Goldman Perpetual Trophy): Julie Smith (USA)
  • Silver: Bridget Bodo (USA)
  • Bronze: Jim Thweatt (USA)

Martin 16 fleet

  • Gold (Chandler Hovey Trophy): Michael Lung and Scott Kolb (HI, USA)
  • Silver: Jane Pimentel and Jessica Koenig (CT, USA)

“It is always a pleasure to host an event where all the competitors show such a high level of sportsmanship and camaraderie. With so many organizations and volunteers working together, we’re able to showcase our venue and provide a true championship experience,” said Regatta Chair Scott Buck.

Challenged Sailors San Diego, the KMAC Foundation, Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors (BAADS), Treasure (TISC) Island Sailing Center, Lake Washington Sailing Club and West Sacramento Inclusive Sailing Foundation all provided boats to the competitors at no cost.
