The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

A coastal low will send clouds to our skies later today, but rain chances for Saturday remain very low. Rain chances increase at we go through the PM hours of Sunday – but especially overnight into Monday. Drier, cool weather follows this up for the rest of next week.

Morning sun will mix with more PM cloud cover, particularly down towards the south/southwest. I can’t totally rule out a late-afternoon sprinkle or quick shower over the Mohawk Valley, Catskills, or Mid-Hudson Valley, but coverage and intensity of any wet weather Saturday will be very light and underwhelming.

Cloud cover will continue to overspread the region overnight, keeping temperatures on the milder side. Many will stay in the 40s this time around.

A little sun in the morning should quickly boost temperatures near or just above 60, but skies will then turn rather cloudy with a few showers developing down south. I don’t expect rainfall amounts to be too high anywhere Sunday, and many north of I-90 can expect to stay dry during the daytime.

Rain does look to become more widespread into Monday morning especially, so plan on a wet morning commute if you still have to head into the office. Rain should continue on and off (a bit steadier to the south) throughout Monday. Throughout this storm, winds will occasionally gust upwards of 20 MPH (esp. south), with 30+ MPH gusts possible over the high spots in Western New England.

Rainfall amounts have the best chance to exceed an inch south of I-90. Farther northwest, it might be a struggle to get to a half inch over parts of the Adirondacks. I think upslope will play a role here, so parts of the eastern Catskills and Berkshires may see localized rainfall amounts exceed an inch and a half.

The clouds and wet weather should keep many in the 50s on Monday. The storm will begin to pull away from the region late Monday into Tuesday. I don’t think we ditch many of the clouds until later Tuesday, and I don’t want to rule out a shower or two on the Radar early Tuesday morning. But some breaks of that sunshine and mostly dry weather should allow temps to rise into the low to mid 60s.

Partial sunshine is expected Wednesday, with winds picking up and shifting to be out of the northwest in wake of this system. For most of us, Wednesday and Thursday will have breezier conditions than the winds produced from this coastal storm. These winds will bring in considerably colder air by Thursday, with highs potentially struggling to get out of the 40s! Temperatures will moderate a bit by Friday but should still remain below seasonal norms, with highs in the mid 50s.
