WAWARSING, N.Y. (NEWS10) — One person is dead and another is injured following a car crash in the town of Wawarsing on Tuesday, according to New York State Police. The two-car collision reportedly happened on State Route 209.
State Police responded to the scene at about 7:45 a.m. A preliminary investigation found that a Hyundai traveling northbound failed to keep right and collided head-on with a Gulf Stream Conquest motorhome before becoming engulfed in flames, authorities said.
Officials said they removed the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 36-year-old Elsa Booth of Ellenville, from the car and attempted to perform life-saving measures. She was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.
The driver of the Gulf Stream Conquest, identified as 68-year-old Diane Delehanty from Texas, was also removed from her vehicle and taken to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to State Police. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
