09/15/2025: Another Warm, Sunny, and Dry Stretch

The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

Temperatures will stay above average throughout the work week before a cold front brings us back to more typical fall-like temps this weekend. Needed rainfall, however, remains absent from this forecast.

Any fog should burn off by mid-morning. A few fairweather clouds will develop around midday, but it will otherwise be sunny. Highs will be in the upper half of the 70s to near 80 degrees. Winds will be very light today.

Many will stay above 50 degrees once again tonight outside of the high spots since dew point values will sit in the low to mid 50s this work week. With the absence of wind and cloud cover, patchy fog is expected to develop in some valley locations into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday is almost a copy and paste weather day from Monday with highs near 80 degrees once more. Some cirrus clouds will stream in from the south by Wednesday evening.

Those clouds are from a coastal system and will continue to lift northward into Wednesday. The showers associated with it should remain south of us (very low-end chance for a shower later Wednesday well south of I-90). Upper level ridging is the main story of this forecast period, keeping temperatures above average until a cold front swings through the region sometime Friday.

Temperatures may stay in the 70s Wednesday, especially where the clouds are thicker to the south of Albany, but the best chance for an 80 degree day exists Thursday, when any morning cloud cover will give way to mostly sunny skies.

The end of the forecast will feature more fall-like temperatures. Friday’s cold front will bring along breezy conditions. The exact timing of this boundary makes it a trickier high temperature forecast, as I can see pretty solid arguments at 5 degrees higher or lower than the 79 I am forecasting this morning. What is agreed upon, however, and somewhat unfortunately, is that this front is anticipated to not carry with it much in the way of moisture, keeping rain chances very low. Dew points will fall following the frontal boundary, allowing for some chillier mornings by the weekend. After temperatures struggle to get out of the 60s Saturday, highs will be in the low to mid 70s with just a few more clouds by Sunday.
